District Attorney Matt Delbridge Endorses Jeff Cannon
GOLDSBORO, NC – Matt Delbridge, the longtime District Attorney for North Carolina’s Ninth
Prosecutorial District, today announced his endorsement of Jeff Cannon in the race for District
Attorney. Delbridge, who has served the citizens of Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne Counties for over
40 years, praised Cannon’s expertise, leadership, and commitment to justice.
“With more than 40 years of dedicated service to the Ninth Prosecutorial District, I have a deeply
vested interest in the citizens of Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne Counties,
” said Delbridge.
“I want to
ensure the citizens continue to receive the highest level of justice, protection, and public safety
that has long been the hallmark of this office.
”
Delbridge highlighted the evolving challenges in the legal field and Cannon’s proven ability to
address them.
“The legal landscape has evolved significantly in recent years, with new challenges
in information management, case tracking, and the efficient handling of an ever-growing
caseload,
” he stated.
“These changes demand a leader with proven expertise in modern case
management systems and the ability to marshal limited resources effectively to deliver results.
”
Reflecting on their collaboration, Delbridge noted Cannon’s critical role in overcoming recent
obstacles.
“I have personally relied on Jeff Cannon’s exceptional organizational skills to help
address the significant backlogs created by the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of
eCourts,
” Delbridge said.

Delbridge emphasized Cannon’s dedication to core principles.

Concluding his endorsement, Delbridge expressed confidence in Cannon’s qualifications.

Cannon Files For District Attorney
Raleigh, NC – Today, Board-Certified prosecutor Jeff Cannon officially filed to run
for District Attorney in District 9 covering Greene, Lenoir, and Wayne County.
A long standing eastern North Carolina resident, Jeff has spent nearly 15 years as
a prosecutor standing up for victims and keeping communities safe. He is one of
fewer than 4% of North Carolina attorneys certified as a Board Specialist in State
Criminal Law, a distinction earned through extensive trial experience and proven
expertise.
Known for being tough on violent crime while treating everyone with fairness and
respect, Jeff personally meets with victims and ensures their voices are heard. He
has earned the trust of law enforcement, victims’ families, and colleagues across
the district.
Outside the courtroom, Jeff coaches youth sports, mentors Mock Trial teams, and
is active in his church. He lives in Lenoir County with his wife Jessi, son Jennings,
and dog Buckley.
